To start this guide, I want to give everyone an idea of what we will be covering and in what order. That way, you will know what to expect and I can explain why we are learning in this particular order.
On Learn JP Lyrics, every word is color coded and labeled with its grammatical role (ex: noun, verb, adjective). The color coding is a visual mnemonic mimicking the color order of the rainbow, because it makes Japanese grammar make sense. It is a visual cue that represents what I consider to be the building blocks to forming a proper Japanese sentence.
The most common building block are nouns, which are orange. Orange nouns can be “modified” by a red or pink adjective and followed by a yellow particle. If, for example, a yellow particle is left out for slang, you will know it is supposed to be there. Or if you are making a sentence, you know that you can add an adverb to the verb/where to add it.
